The first time I noticed it was when a guest speaker was in and he was telling us of his trip to India I believe it was. The one day the preaching changed, slight at first. All of this under the ministry of this young pastor who had said that ' he felt he had come to pastor the city'. And the preaching and teaching were nothing less than astounding, both in house and from guest speakers. The miracles, the heavy manifest tangible presence of God, the prophesying and prophetic acts, the healing, these all became part of my Christian life both at the fellowship and while away from the fellowship. This went on for years, and this to me was the norm for Christian life, not the exception that some see. However all this started at the fellowship I was attending, under the ministry of the young pastor there. I remember there was one other fellowship specifically where the pastor would look at me and say things like' "listen to your other pastor" (himself )in a joking manner in conversation. You see, I came back to the Lord in this city during a time of great outpouring, and was in fellowship and worshipping under this young Pastors ministry.ĭuring this time, many of the 'churches' had come together and there was a sense of oneness that was beginning to take shape. I then started to be reminded of how far our city has fallen in terms of its Christian foundation, and I realized that all these events were connected. The more I saw of this, the deeper and more acute became this sense of loss to our city and the Lords plans for it. The two important things here are firstly: The church was one, totally united as one body in each city, and two, each city's body of believers had a specific sent messenger to which these corrections were to be sent. You see each city church had its own sent messenger. Specifically this statement from Jesus to John " TO THE ANGEL OF THE CHURCH IN _( city)_ WRITE ( rev. The Lord then reminded me of the churches in the seven cities in revelation. But as The Lord brought it to my remembrance I started weeping, and that sense of loss returned even stronger. For years that remark, the story of that conversation stayed with me. He was relating a story of how, when as a young pastor coming to the city, he was speaking with an older pastor and was telling this older pastor how he felt, at that time, that he was being sent to pastor the city of London, The reply from the older pastor was"You are daft". A time of great impartation, growth, and relationship with Jesus. At the time this fellowship was experiencing heavy revival, with a magnificent outpouring of the manifest tangible presence of God. Upon asking, I, in a flash, was brought into remembrance of a statement I had heard from a pastor of mine from years ago. I will now try to relate what He revealed to me. ![]() I was taken completely unaware by this, and had no idea what this sense of 'loss' was referring to, and, I immediately went to prayer asking my Heavenly Father for some revelation and clarity. This was not in a depression or fleshly sense, but instead was born of the Spirit deeply and acutely making me aware of a loss suffered by the church in this city, and this 'loss' resulting in a great hindrance to God's plan for our city. When those chosen of God for a purpose choose 2nd best, even though as time goes on 2nd best appears successful, the church suffers devastating loss.Ī couple of days ago, after getting home from a prayer and fellowship time made up of preachers and leaders of fellowships ( very sparsely attended) in London Ontario Canada, I found myself while sitting at my computer, suddenly overcome by a sense of loss. When looks are deceiving, what devastating losses we incur.
